A Glamorous Thanksgiving, Starlet Style

A true Starlet has a lot to be thankful for, and she has a special place in her heart for tradition.  So a Starlet Thanksgiving will be full of tradition with her own special twist of glamour.

Food

Hors d'oeuvres

If a Starlet serves a starter course (probably with cocktails) she will pick small bites with a little luxury.  An ideal pick would be Truffled Deviled Eggs.

Main course

Turkey is the star of the show.  Try carving and serving in a cute apron like Dita Von Teese

Gravy is another Thanksgiving staple, and Lana Turner’s favorite.  Rumor has it she had a special recipe and was in charge of making it for her family Thanksgivings.

Stuffing- usually Thanksgiving stuffing recipes are passed down through generations.  A Starlet loves family heirlooms... even ones from other people's families.... and even if the secret is StoveTop.

Veggies- make sure you eat your veggies.  Pick your favorites and add a little seasoning.  My favorite is broccoli, but you can also serve a salad for guests that want to load up on healthy stuff.  Since a Starlet is a sucker for anything French, how about this Roasted Butternut Squash Salad with Warm Cider Vinaigrette

Potato- Sweet potato is healthier and has more nutrients, but if you’re a traditionalist, go for good old-fashioned mashed potatoes.  If there is any day to not worry about nutrients it’s Thanksgiving.   How about adding more luxury with Truffled Mashed Potatoes.

Pumpkin Pie- When you think Thanksgiving, you think pie.  And pumpkin is the most traditional (and Lana Turner's favorite, she always indulged in a slice).  For fun, try making one from scratch or try a Semi-Homemade one from Sandra Lee

Cocktails

Whatever you alcohol preference, there is a cocktail for you.  Here are some to try:

 Apple crisp

 2 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
3 oz. Fresh apple cider
Pinch of nutmeg
Apple slice, for garnish
Add ice to a Collins glass. Add the Cointreau, lime juice, apple cider and nutmeg, and stir gently. Garnish with the apple slice.

Mulled wine

Sidecar

3/4 ounce Cointreau

3/4 ounce lemon juice

1 1/2 ounces cognac
Shake well with cracked ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass that has had its outside rim rubbed with lemon juice and dipped in sugar.

Décor

A Starlet loves glamour and sparkle.  Here are some ideas to get you inspired:
